[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Even in Southern California, Fall brings some cooler temps, a bit more precipitation, and perhaps a fallen leaf or two. While we do not see the drastic changes in more deciduous places, Fall requires at least some of our attention. And it’s not just pumpkin-themed decor and an influx of hot Starbucks drinks that will help ring in the new season. Your plumbing requires a few adjustments as well. In this blog, we’ll discuss our most helpful tips and tricks for Fall’s plumbing woes.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][minti_image img=”19466″ align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]
Plumbing Prep For Fall:
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
- Remove your garden hoses from your yard. To ensure its usefulness for next summer, make sure that your hose is not left in a forgotten corner of your garden as temperatures drop. Remove it from the spigot, drain it and place it in temperature-regulated storage. A hose that is left to face the elements will be subject to any leftover water freezing inside and damaging the interior.
- Turn off your hose spigot and the inside water supply. Before temperatures drop (be sure to check what the lows are each day), properly turn your home’s exterior water spigots off. Take note of any bibbs that leak and attend to them accordingly. You may even consider a frost-proof spigot if you live in an area that will consistently see such chilly weather.
- Check and prepare your sewage system for the upcoming season. You may well know that Fall and Winter bring lots of hustle and bustle. And maybe a guest or two…or 12. So, this is a critical time in which to check your sewage system and ensure its proper function before the busy season to come. Do any preventative maintenance required and check for any issues.
- Attend to your water heater. While in the summer months, a warm shower was far from essential, even a slight temperature drop will renew their necessity. And so, make sure that your water heater is operating correctly for when you need and want it most.
- Clear your gutters of all debris. Fall brings fallen leaves (if you have more than palm trees in your yard) and Winter brings precipitation. So to promote proper water drainage and avoid any water damage, be sure that your gutters are doing their job. This begins by ensuring that they are clear of debris of all sorts. Though we in the Redlands area do not see as many fallen leaves, this is an important step in your Fall prep.
